New options:

Nonlinear calculations:

  • Taking into account the starting case for nonlinear combinations


  • Using a starting case for selected simple load cases and combinations is effected for non-linear calculations only. For all other types of analysis definition of the starting case is ignored.
    Up to now, combinations were calculated with starting case only if at least one of the components composed the combination was defined as “using the starting case”. Auxiliary cases, and combinations were excluded from that rule (used in another combination caused no starting case calculation). It is still valid, but beginning from this version (MP6) selecting combinations in calculation option window allows for definition of a starting case for combinations as well.
    Using a starting cases leads to its preliminary calculation, taking final solution as a starting point to further calculation of a load cases, or combinations for which this starting case was defined.
    For combinations, for which composed load cases use starting case, loads from starting case are not considered in the load combination. Starting case is calculated separately, at the begin of the combination calculations. Use of the starting case as a one of the combination components will take into account - after the initial calculation of a starting case – only that part of starting case loads, which are not considered in the “first step” (related from the difference between combination multiplier and 1.0)

  • Saving the table of reinforcement bars in Excel format.
Bugs fixed:

Structure edition and calculation:

  • Fixing the bug of enlarging the load on cables for Time History Analysis;
  • Fixing the bug of model generation while rigid links are defined on compatible nodes;
  • Enabling the presentation of the influence surfaces for projects with auxiliary cases;
  • Making possible FE mesh refinement by COM interface (from ESOP program);
  • Read-out of case names (instead of natures) by DSTV import functions;
  • Fixing the bug of interrupting the analysis for special sets of auxiliary cases;
  • Correcting the model generation taking into account masses on eccentricities with self-weight disabled (import from CBSPro).
Reinforced concrete calculations:
  • Erroneous eccentricity calculation for bi-axial compression of SNiP columns

New options and possibilities:

Grouping members by layers (import of DXF files):

  • While loading files with active layers, the program automatically creates groups containing elements that belong to individual layers.
Removed errors:

Structure modeling and calculations:

  • Error of the time history analysis for Newmark’s method in case imposed displacements occur;
  • Incorrect interpretation of rigid links defined on compatible nodes (absence of a rigid link);
  • Unneeded use of the coefficient increasing wind pressure ”beta” for the Spanish code NBE-AE-88.
  • Error of changing the integral value along the length of the panel section when activating and deactivating cuts for a group of cuts defined along one line.
Steel member design:
  • Canadian code CAN/CSA:
    incorrect information in the dialog box for definition of the flexural-torsional buckling length of a member;
  • Spanish code MV103:
    incorrect calculation of a value of the M_y moment
  • American code ASD:
    incorrect calculation of Euler stresses (Fa,Fey,Fez), if allowable stresses for wind and seismic cases are increased (Part 5, A5.2)
Verification of steel connections:
  • Assigning a zero value to the width of a bracket flange when importing a connection from a model;
  • Blocking calculations for a connection list;
  • Replacement of forces between symmetrically-positioned diagonals in the welded truss chord node;

Standardization of definition of a bolt spacing in the spread footing for all codes (significant when the code is changed).

New options and possibilities:

Seismic calculations:

  • Added possibility of seismic calculations according to Eurocode EC8 – Portuguese NAD
RC modules:
  • New code DM 9/1/96 – implemented possibility of calculations of RC element reinforcement according to the Italian code DM 9/1/96;
  • Provided (real) reinforcement of slabs – implemented possibility to define reinforcement of slabs with reinforcement in one layer and with unidirectional reinforcement;
  • Spread footings:
    • presentation of bending moments acting on the spread footing
    • calculations of the required (theoretical) reinforcement before the punching reinforcement (?).
Steel connections
  • New connection PN-90/B-03200 – fixed column base;
  • New connection PN-90/B-03200 – concrete column base;
  • Warning messages:
    • supplemented with display of numerical values of described quantities;
  • Bolted connections:
    • added possibility of independent symmetrization of spacings and the whole arrangement of bolts.
Removed errors:

Calculation-related problems:

  • Corrected error that resulted in blocking the calculations by means of the “Sparse” method for a structure involving moving loads;
  • Corrected error of incorrect calculations of 3D structures (apparent e.g. in the imbalance of forces and reactions) occurring when supports rotated to the point are present.
Structure edition:
  • Corrected errors of “Open GL” display that imposed deactivation of the graphic card acceleration;
  • Restored work of the “previous selection” option.
Steel member design:
  • Automatic buckling length for mixed structures – correction of the algorithm that imposes disregarding the shell part;
  • PN-90/B-03200:
    • correction of the instability coefficient for asymmetric I-sections,
    • correction of the critical force value for the flexural-torsional buckling of C-sections.
Verification of steel connections:
  • EC3 – fixed beam-column connection:
    correction of errors.
RC design:
  • Beam reinforcement:
    • considered participation of axial forces in calculations of beam shear and cracking,
    • corrected optimization of diameters of the longitudinal reinforcement,
    • ACI: removed error of ignoring the compression reinforcement,
    • BAEL: corrected generation of triangular and open stirrups,
    • PN: removed error in evaluating the torsional and shear capacities;
  • Spread footings:
    • corrected selection of the spread footing shape due to lifting,
    • PN: correction of diameters of transverse reinforcement.

New standard for snow and wind load:

  • The possibility to generate snow and wind load according to Italian standard DM 16/1/96.

Calculations:

  • The method of calculations was changed for dynamic load cases (seismic, spectral) for structures made of bars carrying only compression or tension. The previous static case is deciding. If in the consequence of load action for this case some bars don’t work, they will not be taken into account in further dynamic calculations.
  • The bug occurring in load combinations for nonlinear calculations was fixed. The bar loads, resulting form the load from claddings, were always multiplied by 1.0 (although for nodal forces the factors appropriate to the defined combinations were taken).
  • The bug occurring in nonlinear combinations was fixed, for which the starting case (e.g. the assembly case in cable structures) contained bar shortenings or thermal load. Such loads were not scaled (they were always taken with factor equal to 1.0).
  • Additionally the principle was introduced that nonlinear combinations will always take the starting case with factor equal to 1.0 into account, and in case of occurrence of starting case in combinations the part “completing” to 1.0 should be considered as additional load.
  • The calculations of the structure were corrected of incomplete set of degrees of freedom in which there are supports directed to the point.

Structure edition:

  • Linear supports – save of structure was completed by possibility to save the support advanced parameters (so far they have been lost in course of saving).
  • Unilateral ground – corrected change of direction definition (resulting from exchanging in version 18.0 the texts ”+” and ”-”).
  • Table of loads – the bug of changing the list of bars by copying the table records was fixed.

Structure readout:

  • The bugs in importing the structures saved in CIS/2 and DSTV formats were fixed.

Steel member design:

  • Calculating the groups for SLS combinations:
    the bug of changing the results (replacing the profiles) after clicking in the table of results was fixed.
  • PN-90/B-03200:
    correction of incorrectly determined moments Mry and Mrz for the profiles of class 4.

Verification of steel connections:

  • CM66 – bolted connections, fixed:
    correction of incorrect verification of oblique rib.
  • EC3 – beam-beam connection, fixed:
    completing the verification of endplate in case of tension.
  • EC3 – beam-beam bolted connection:
    completing the verification of the plate thickness.
  • EC3 – column base - fixed:
    correction of incorrect information in the calculation note.
  • EC3 – column base - pinned:
    correction of false tensioned anchorages verification.

RC design:

  • Reinforcement of beams-walls:
    PN – possibility to introduce the value of allowable cracking different from 0,3 mm.
  • Reinforcement of beams:
    correcting the save (rtf, doc, html) of load and result layouts;
    BAEL – change of default geometrical values (width of supports, bar extensions);
    BAEL – fixing the bug of incorrect generation of stirrups beyond the beam;
    BAEL – correcting the insufficient lower reinforcement near the support (A.5.1.312);
    BS – taking into account the condition of the maximum lever arm of internal forces (BS 8110: 3.4.4.1-e).
  • Spread footings:
    activating „Apply” button after changing the ground profile;
    making available the diagrams of stresses in continuous footings;
    ACI, BS, CSA, EC7 – correcting the calculation of inclination coefficients.
  • Drawings – export to RCAD
    Using the default template consistent with the printout language (not work).

Calculations:
  • Incorrect estimation of free memory which may disable calculations, especially on computers with higher RAM memory (1 GB or more)
  • Change of the nonlinear combination definition while recalculation, if starting case (e.g. assembly case for the cable structure) is used with the multiplication coefficient different that 1
Robot Open Standard:
  • Inability of adding new databases to the list of ”active” ones
Structure edition:
  • Loss of loads during copying of the loaded elements
  • Incorrect groups content, if their lists are longer than 255 characters, and edition imposes their redefinition (e.g. cutting of the bars)
Steel members design:
  • PN-90/B-03200:
    a) Incorrect value of coefficient mw for cantilevers
    b) Incorrect value of the critical force for the lateral-torsional buckling of the channel section
Verification of the steel connections:
  • PN-90/B-03200: pinned column base
    Taking into account the real anchors diameter (instead of the default size – 12 mm)
Dimensioning of the reinforcement:
  • Required reinforcement of the slabs:
    Lack of the reinforcement correction for the cracking in course of the calculations without the bending (plane stress)
    BS – calculation errors in course of the calculation of thick slabs
  • Reinforcement of the beams:
    BAEL - reinforcement of the short cantilevers without closed stirrups
    BS – fatal errors during the cracking calculation
    PN – incorrect value of the coefficient n in course of the shear verification
  • Reinforcement of the columns:
    PN – excessive verification for the torsion in course of the shear verification
  • Spread footing:
    Incorrect information about the reinforcement amount

    possibility of presenting the dimensions with help of decimal place
